LUVERNE, MN – The pastor and members of St. John Lutheran Church warmly invite everyone in the community—regardless of church home or political persuasion—to join them for a special prayer service on Tuesday, October 29, at 7:00 pm. Just one week before Election Day, this service invites all believers to prepare for our national elections by hearing God’s Word and responding in prayer and praise.
Led by the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe, the service will feature a meaningful liturgy of patriotic hymns, Scripture readings, and prayers. Hymns accompanied by local musician Jane Cote will celebrate God's providence and inspire trust in Jesus, our King of Kings. The litany of prayers will focus on seeking wisdom in our voting, asking for fair and peaceful elections, and praying that Americans will be united regardless of the outcome.
"No one can deny how divisive the political discourse is in our country,” says Pastor Booe. "This prayer service is for all Christians who want to rise above the rhetoric and seek God’s blessing upon our country and her leaders.”
The service will last approximately 45 minutes and will not include a sermon or communion. The members of St. John encourage everyone in the community to attend this evening of reflection and hope as we seek God's guidance for the future of our country.
St. John Lutheran Church is located at 803 N. Cedar Street in Luverne and is a congregation of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. They have served Luverne and the surrounding community for over 150 years. For more information about their congregation or this service, please contact Pastor Phil Booe at (507) 283-2316, by email at pastorbooe@gmail.com, or online at www.stjohnlutheranluverne.org.
